Information guide for the expansion of the Green Colleges project
JESE is implementing a 4-year project called ‘Expansion of Green Colleges’, running up to 2026. The project is supported by Welthungerhilfe and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented together with partners BBC-Bunyangabu Beekeepers Cooperation and MTI-Margarita Training Institute. The project is being implemented in the Rwenzori region, in the districts of Kabarole, Bunyangabu, Fort Portal Tourism City and Kasese. The project aims at using existing potential in the region, strengthening the capacities of training institutions in the field of green skilling, networking with each other and realizing an increased participation of youth in ecologically and economically sustainable sectors.

To improve employability and income levels of the youth in green skilling
Target Area
Fort Portal, Kabarole, and Kasese.
Target population
1000 youth.
Key Achievements
- 800(429 males, 371 Females) trainees completed holistic training that integrated technical skills in hotel and catering services, beekeeping, Fish farming, solar installation and maintenance, vegetable growing, juice processing, tour guiding, among others.
- 580 trainees supported with starter kits
- 106 youth (56 males and 50 females) were upskilled in camera installation, tour guide driving, and dish installation.

• 26 VSLA groups were formed and 18 registered with subcounty and district, respectively, and generated savings of 23,691,100 UGX.
• 800 trainees were assessed by UVTAB and got certificates.
